Graduate student Katherine Crispin received a Poster Prize from the European Mineralogical Union (EMU) for her presentation at the European Geosciences Union meeting in Vienna, Austria. Since 2007, the EMU has awarded Poster Prizes at relevant international conferences to young scientists working in Mineralogical Sciences and allied disciplines, with only a single recipient of the award at each conference. Katherine’s award recognizes her poster entitled “The Influence of Electronic Structure on Diffusion in Periclase: The Crystal Field Effect”, co-authored with Prof. Jim Van Orman.
