Post-Doctoral Position in Experimental Petrology and Geochemistry
A post-doctoral research position in experimental petrology and geochemistry is available within the Department of Geological Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. We seek an experienced and highly motivated candidate with interests in material properties and chemical processes within Earth and planetary interiors. A Ph.D. in geoscience, materials science, physics, chemistry, or a related field is required. Experience with high-pressure experimental techniques is desirable. The successful candidate will be involved in setting up a multi-anvil and piston cylinder laboratory. Research opportunities include topics in high-pressure experimental geochemistry, chemical exchange across the core-mantle boundary, and isotope geochemistry of planetary materials.
The position is a one-year appointment with the opportunity to renew for an additional year, and is to be filled July 1, 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter. For further information, please contact Jim Van Orman.
Applicants should send a CV, a short statement of research experience and interests, and contact information for three references to Jim Van Orman (james.vanorman@case.edu).
