Julien Chantel joined the Department as a Postdoctoral Scholar in February 2015. Dr. Chantel earned a Ph.D. in Experimental Petrology from Bayreuth University (Germany) and European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (France),and was previously a Postdoctoral Scholar at Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans, Clermont-Fd (France). He specializes in high-pressure and high-temperature experiments, and is working with Zhicheng Jing on a project to determine the density, sound velocity, and equation of state of Fe-rich liquids at high pressure to understanding composition and dynamics of planetary cores.
