Prof. Steven Hauck was recently selected to join NASA’s
MESSENGER Mission to Mercury as a Participating Scientist.

NASA recently selected 23 scientists to join the MESSENGER
Mission to Mercury which has its first flyby of the planet on January 14, 2008. MESSENGER, which stands for MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry, and Ranging, was launched in August 2004 and will be the first spacecraft to flyby Mercury in almost 33 years when it comes within 200 kilometers of the surface in January. The spacecraft will have two more flybys of the planet and will be the first probe to orbit Mercury in March 2011. Prof. Hauck joins the mission’s existing group of scientists and engineers that will analyze flyby and future orbital data. For more information see
